SWITCH e-conferencing portal

SWITCH supports and fosters e-conferences and virtual collaboration. A stable IP-videoconferencing service, including central infrastructures for multipoint conferencing and a professional Helpdesk for instant support and consulting are available. Collaboration tools complement the audio and video communication by adding real-time application sharing, instant messaging, virtual presentations, whiteboard tools and document exchange. On a trial basis, we offer a streaming solution, which permits on-the-fly audio and video subject matter (like lectures) to be incorporated in recordable media presentations.

Mától két professzionális vidokonferencia rendszer működik a DF-en.

The ViDeNet project was started by ViDe to explore issues associated with global scalability for video conferencing over IP. Toward that end, the project was quite successful and was instrumental in the development of GDS, H.350 and the development of a community of experts and users. Funding for the current iteration of the research project ran out many years ago and many of its research efforts are now implementable at individual campuses, rather than having to be hosted by a research testbed. For example, H.323 URL dialing is now available and working, as are H.350 directory services. On June 1, 2006 the site will be frozen to allow time for system administrators to make copies of relevant data files and archive them to ViDe. Zone administrators should take advantage of this period of time to make copies of any information important to them. On July 1, the site will be taken off the network.
